Cord blood is the blood that remains in the umbilical cord and placenta after the birth of a healthy baby. It is rich in blood stem cells and can be used to treat more than 80 diseases and disorders, including cancers, aplastic anemia and sickle cell disease.

JULY 6, 2021 (OTTAWA) – Canadian Blood Services is calling for an additional 23,000 blood donors across Canada by July 31 to replenish the blood inventory following a sustained rise in demand as COVID-19 restrictions ease.
