Living with Systemic Lupus (SLE), how blood donations have helped me

My name is Daniela and I am 18 years old in my first year of university! I am studying kinesiology to hopefully attend medical school one day! Medicine has been a passion of mine since I was very young because I have been living with systemic Lupus since I was 5 years old. I have been very inspired by the medical professionals around me my whole life and I hope to be able to help kids suffering with rheumatic diseases.

I’ve been through many different medications and treatments, but one of them was actually donated blood plasma! At that time in my life getting these blood plasma transfusions really helped me. I know first-hand how important blood donations are and for so many different reasons. I may not be physically able to donate my own blood but I would love to be involved and help others in some way.
