In 1973, at the age of 18, I was involved in a motorcycle accident which resulted in the loss of my left leg above the knee. It was only after many years had gone by that I learned how much blood had been required for the numerous operations I needed. This realization was the reason I became a regular blood donor.
In the years following, I have had many more operations requiring more blood and so realized that a blood donation is indeed an invaluable gift.
While we may not know who will benefit from our donations, we should be happy and proud to know that this gift will benefit someone in need.
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO DONATE WHENEVER YOU HAVE A CHANCE.
