Emily Phillipos

Volunteer

Alberta, Saskatchewan, and North West Territories

Enthusiastic and hardworking, Emily is an outstanding young volunteer and advocate for the blood system. Over three years, she has contributed close to 1,200 hours to Canadian Blood Services, encouraging her peers to step up and play a vital role in their community.

Emily first became involved with the blood system in high school, as a Summer Youth Ambassador. Now a student at the University of Alberta, she has held several executive positions in the Edmonton Youth Committee, and plays an essential role in the success and growth of the group. She is currently president of the committee.

Last year, Emily was an instrumental member in the planning, organizing and coordinating of STRIDE – The Walk For Blood: a one-of-a-kind race to raise awareness of blood donation in the community, and to increase donations during the summer months. Her ability to analyze and communicate well makes her a perfect leader for young people, and someone to look up to.
